Leaders in Transition

The Leaders in Transition LLC gives new transfer students an opportunity to support each other through their first year at the U of M and learn about leadership for personal growth and professional development.

The LLC will also provide ways to connect with other transfer students, and attend events exclusively for the learning community! Additionally, the Leaders in Transition community has been shown to help transfer students grow on a personal level so that they may become effective leaders in their lives, student groups, and future endeavors.

Members are required to enroll in Personal Leadership in the University (LEAD 1961W) during the fall semester.

Participants in this community should expect to:

  • Find support and connections through intentional programming built for transfer students.
  • Learn about themselves, their personal strengths and views on leadership.
  • Learn about and utilize resources on campus that are provided to support students throughout their transition to the U.
  • Engage in personal, deeply self-reflective activities and writing aimed at helping students uncover default behaviors and life patterns in order to become more effective as leaders.
  • Act in moments of ambiguity that require one to practice leadership.
  • Develop their understanding of and ability to be an effective leader.

Eligible students must (1) be a new transfer student admitted to the Twin Cities campus for fall semester; (2) Submit a Housing Application through Housing and Residential Life; (3) Demonstrate an interest in leadership and furthering their skills as a leader.

This House is located in theĀ Mark G. Yudof residence hall. Contact the LLC sponsor if you have any questions at transfer@umn.edu.
